The department
The Department of Biology, Health and Environment of the University of Barcelona was established in January 2016. It is structured into five sections: Botany, Plant Physiology, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Environmental Health and Soil Science, each one focusing its teaching and research activities on the areas of knowledge they are competent.
The composition of the teaching team, as well as the research groups that comprise it, demonstrate its character as a multidisciplinary team.
The Department's staff work on very diverse aspects, ranging from the phylogeny and taxonomy of species to environmental management.
A large part of the teaching and research staff of the Department is linked to different research institutes such as the Biodiversity Research Institute (IRBio) or the Water Research Institute (IdRA).
