Assessment system
The master’s degree in Environmental Engineering follows the third chapter of UB regulations on course plans and the assessment and qualification of learning (Governing Council, 8 May 2012). This means that students automatically enter a continuous assessment system. However, students can opt for a single assessment if they submit the relevant documents within the period established by the lecturers. Students who fail any of the subjects in the master’s degree will be eligible for repeat assessment.
The following types of systems could be used to assess students’ learning of the subject contents:
- Written tests include examinations, question papers (including multiple choice, true/false and matching questions), objective tests (simple answers, completing the sentence, etc.), essay tests, concept maps and similar, application activities, case studies and problem-solving.
- Oral tests include interviews or examinations, information sharing and presentations.
- Assignments undertaken by the student include reports, dossiers, projects and the learning portfolio.
The organization and teaching methodology of each subject depends on its characteristics (theory, practical, seminar, mixed, etc.). Both the organization and the teaching methodology are described in the corresponding course plan.
