The Faculty

The Faculty of Biology has over 2,500 students, 457 lecturers and researchers and 180 administrative and technical staff. The lecturers and researchers are specialists in all areas of the life sciences. The efforts of our staff are entirely devoted to undertaking research projects, continuously reviewing and improving teaching, and transferring knowledge and technology to social organisations and companies.

The Faculty works on ambitious research projects, which is the reason behind its highly specialised science and technology services, experimental fields, and research centres and institutes associated with it.Through the Faculty and the UB, we have created networks of universities, laboratories, research centres and companies in Catalonia, Europe and the world that became part of the Faculty’s learning ecosystem. The Faculty of Biology facilitates mobility and placements in national and international centres and companies. The high mobility rate fosters the internationalisation and professionalisation of our students.
