Article 24 of Law 31/1995, of 8 November 1995, on the Prevention of Occupational Risks, and its subsequent development throughRoyal Decree 171/2004, of 30 January, establishes that when, in the same workplace, personnel from two or more companies carry out activities, these companies must cooperate in the application of the regulations on the prevention of occupational risks, establishing the necessary means both for the protection and prevention of risks and for informing the respective workers about these risks.
If you are a UB student and you carry out your activity in other centres
The University of Barcelona collaborates and participates in many research projects, campaigns and scientific research field trips in which UB staff can share working spaces and interact with other people from other companies and/or institutions.
It is necessary that all companies and/or institutions that interact with each other cooperate in the application of the regulations on the prevention of occupational risks, so that their respective workers can carry out their activities with the maximum of safety and health.
This procedure must be carried out by the principal investigator of the agreement or research project or the person to whom this function is delegated.
Remember that, apart from the completion of this procedure, as principal investigator and contact/interlocutor with the external company/institution, prior to the start of the activities you must provide the UB staff involved with all the health and safety requirements of the external entity (information and training in ORP, personal protection equipment and others), and submit the coordination documentation required by this entity.
If you are a UB student and contract services from an external company
All external companies that carry out professional activities at the University of Barcelona must complete the CAE (Coordination of Business Activities) procedure before starting work, in order to fulfil the obligation to cooperate in the prevention of occupational hazards between the UB and these companies.
