Rational use of lifts

Description

Although the university is not a significant source of electricity consumption, in a community of residents, lifts can account for up to 80% of the bill. The most modern lifts incorporate many efficiency measures, such as lowering smoothly without consuming energy by taking advantage of the force of the gravity.

For old appliances, a rational use allows a very important energy saving to be achieved.

What can I do?

  • Stairs and lifts in a shopping centreUse the stairs instead of the lift whenever you can, especially if you are not loaded and it is only a couple of floors. This saves energy and is also good for your health.
  • If you have to use the lift, do not call more than one lift at a time. You’ll only be able to push one of them and you’ll have wasted energy in a useless way.
  • When you apply for a lift, remember that you must not press the up and down buttons at the same time. Just press the corresponding button, otherwise you’ll be demanding a lift that you won’t be able to use because it won’t take you to where you want to go.
