Health surveillance
The Health Surveillance, in order to preserve the individual health of all employees of the University of Barcelona in the workplace, articulates different actions with the aim of:
- to be aware in good time that a worker is affected by the working conditions and to be able to act as quickly as possible;
- to study whether the illnesses of a group of workers are related to work;
- check whether preventive measures actually prevent damage to workers’ health.
Health examinations are an important part of this surveillance. They can be initial or periodic, taking into account the following situations: initial health assessment (once the person joins the workplace), assessment at periodic intervals according to the health risks of the workplace, evaluation for health reasons due to psychosocial risks or other health-related reasons, evaluation in case of prolonged absence from work, or evaluations of sensitive personnel and/or pregnant or breastfeeding workers.
