Information on the website

We are the Office of Safety, Health and Environment (hereinafter, OSSMA) of the University of Barcelona (hereinafter, UB). As a support tool for accessing its website, the OSSMA has the domain name ub.edu/ossma, which is owned by the UB. Use of the website implies acceptance of the conditions set out in this document.

The information contained on the OSSMA website is intended to publicise its activities and the services it provides. The OSSMA works to ensure that the information and services offered and disseminated comply with the necessary integrity, accuracy, updating, accessibility and usability. In this sense, it is important to bear in mind the update date indicated in each case. The information provided on this website is in no way a substitute for the publication of laws, general provisions and administrative acts, which must be published in newspapers, official bulletins or in the system determined by the UB.

This website and all its contents, including texts, images, sounds, databases, codes and any other material, are the property of the UB or of third parties that have authorised their use by the institution. All this material is subject to intellectual property legislation. The respective owners reserve the right to take appropriate legal action to repair any damage caused by any act that infringes the intellectual property rights of the contents.

OSSMA reserves the right to modify and update its website at any time and without prior notice.

In relation to the images of people that appear on the website, OSSMA publishes them respecting the right to one’s own image. These images are used exclusively for the purpose of compiling graphic files or videos, prepared to inform and publicise the activities of the OSSMA. In no case are they used for other purposes, nor are they transferred to third parties without the corresponding authorisation.

The UB has implemented adequate security measures to keep its website and servers free of any malicious software. Secure access to the website (such as intranets) is through the HTTPS protocol.

The OSSMA provides links from the website to its profiles on social networks (such as Instagram), with the aim of publicising where it is present. Once you access any of these social networks, you are subject to the policies that each service has established.

Any dispute in relation to the OSSMA website must be resolved by the courts and tribunals of Barcelona, with express waiver of any other jurisdiction.

Protection of personal data

In the event that you provide personal data, the treatment that may derive from it is subject to the provisions of the regulations on the protection of personal data. It should be borne in mind that the UB website is not a source of public access as provided for in these regulations.

Data collected through forms

  1. On the OSSMA website there are different forms that can be used to collect personal data. All these forms contain the respective information clauses on the processing of personal data, which comply with the provisions of data protection regulations.
  2. When visitors leave comments to a news item on the website using a form, we collect the data that is displayed, as well as the IP address of the visitor and the string of the user agent of the browser to assist in the detection of spam.
An anonymised string created from the email address (also known as a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. You can consult the privacy policy of the Gravatar service. Once the comment has been approved, the image of your profile is visible to the public in the context of the comment.
In the case of comments, they are reviewed and approved before publication.
  3. Likewise, and when required by data protection regulations, the consent of the person concerned is also requested for the processing or transfer of their personal data. For these purposes, the provisions of each clause must be taken into account.
  4. In any case, the OSSMA only processes the personal data of the data subjects that are adequate, pertinent and not excessive for the fulfilment of the determined, explicit and legitimate purposes for which they have been obtained. Likewise, it guarantees the security of the personal data of the users of the website through the application of different types of technical and organisational security measures.

Transmission data

Transmission data are implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. The data generated by browsing the UB website is only processed for strictly technical purposes and by staff who are bound by the duty of confidentiality.

Cookies

This website uses cookies. For more information, please visit the cookie policy document.

Embedded content from other websites

The articles on this website include embedded content (for example, videos, images, articles, etc.). The content embedded from other web pages behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor were visiting the other web page.

These websites can collect data about you, serve cookies, embed additional third party tracking, and monitor interaction with the embedded content, including tracking of interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into this website.

How long we retain data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its meta data are retained indefinitely. This is to be able to automatically recognise and approve any follow-up comments instead of keeping them in the moderation queue.

For other information sent by means of forms, the data is kept for as long as it is necessary for the management of the procedure or incident communicated, or for legal matters in cases of consent.

What rights do you have over your data

You can ask us to delete any personal data we may have, at the following e-mail address ossma@ub.edu. This does not include data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Accessibility

The OSSMA, in its commitment to achieve the total elimination of visual and functional barriers on the website, is working to meet the medium level (AA) of the accessibility guidelines established by the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) working group of the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). It should be borne in mind that the website is dynamic and, consequently, it is practically impossible to check each and every one of the web pages that can be consulted at any given time. In this sense, if you have any problem in relation to the accessibility to navigate through any of these web pages, you can communicate it by e-mail (vanesavarela@ub.edu).

With regard to the visual design, this website uses style sheets for the visual format of the information and has only used small font sizes, compatible with the personal text size options of the browsers. However, if the browser you are using does not allow the use of style sheets, it is possible to browse the web pages without any display problems by selecting the option of browsing without page styles.
