With more than 570 years of history, the University of Barcelona (UB) is the leading university in Catalonia and Spain. It is consistently in the highest position of all Spanish universities in various global rankings and it is the only Spanish university in the exclusive League of European Research Universities (LERU).

• UB is home to a community of over 70,000 people, including students, faculty and administrative staff. The University is strongly committed to be an inclusive space that supports all its members regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and race.
• UB comprises sixteen faculties organized in six campuses, a Science Park and nine affiliated centers. With sixteen libraries and a hundred thousand square meters dedicated to health and sport, UB offers a wide range of services to its members.

With this aim, UB has adapted its postgraduate programs to the European Higher Education Area and leads top-level international initiatives such as the Charm European University (CHARM-EU) alliance.

UB in rankings

The University of Barcelona is ranked 1st in Spain by most of the global university rankings. The position of our university in Europe changes according to the parameters used, although it is always ranked within the range that goes from 17th to 130th.
