Who we are?
In 2005, among a group of professionals working in ICUs, Emergencies, and Urgencies, and belonging to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Barcelona, Emergency Medical System and Universitary Institute Parc Taulí, we perceived that there was a need for training in the necessary competencies for critical patient care and emergencies.
Traditionally, the training of doctors and nurses was done separately when in clinical practice we work together. We believe that the interaction between these two professional groups is essential for the patient's survival, so from the beginning, we opted for an interdisciplinary Master's program in continuing education, which incorporates the different professionals who care for the patient. In addition, we believe that professional development also involves acquiring research tools to contribute to scientific advancement in this field of knowledge.
Over the years, the programs included in the Comprehensive Program for Critical Patients and Emergencies (PIMCE) have experienced continuous adaptation to the needs of the students, with continuous innovation in teaching methodology, and incorporating the most advanced technology in simulation and audiovisuals. In parallel, Spanish and international institutions have been incorporated, including the Autonomous University of Madrid. As of today, more than 3,200 students have been trained in the different programs, a third of them being international and with a pass rate of 95%.
