Mathias Klenner – Màster en Art Sonor

Mathias Klenner

Chilean Architect and Sound Artist based in Barcelona. PUC Architect, Master in Sound Art and PhD candidate at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona. He is co-founder of the artistic research project “Espacios Resonantes”, of the collectives TOMA, La Escuela Nunca and Patrimoni Acustic. His work focuses on aural architecture and critical urbanism, investigating conflicts in the community and territory, in its connection with the current context of neoliberal progress. The projects he has carried out combine design and construction work, sound projects, the development of territorial narratives, the visibility and/or generation of conflicts, for the organization of communities or temporary atmospheres that allow the generation of critical actions or alternative discourses to the hegemonic stories. Klenner has produced installations, sound pieces, collages, albums, performances, classes, articles, diaries, interventions, collections, occupations, magazines, drawings, workshops, films, television programs, talks, archives, web pages and other mechanisms of material and symbolic dispute. He has been a professor of architecture courses at UDLA, UFT, UTEM, UCH and UNIACC in Chile and at the Master in Sound Art in UB. Klenner has exhibited his work at PS1/MoMA YAP in New York, Chicago Architecture Biennial, Occupied Exhibition at RMIT, IdeasCity Athens, Cruces Sonoros Festival in Santiago, Chilean Architecture Biennial, Barcelona City and Science Biennial, at GAM Santiago, Tsonami Festival, Yale University Graduate Music School, Ambiances Congress, Hangar Barcelona, Eufonia Festival in Berlin, Barcelona Pensa Festival, l’Estruch Cultural Center, Etopia Cultural Center, Santiago Media Arts Biennial, Resonant Spaces Festival, SONAR Festival, CREA L’H Festival, CentroCentro, Mayrit Biennial, among other places. He has received the Graham Foundation Scholarship for Architecture 2017, the Fondart Chile Scholarship 2018-20-21-22-24, the Catalonia Research and Innovation Scholarship 2019, the Becas Chile for Doctoral Studies 2020, and the Culture Scholarship EU Moves Europe 2023.
