The environment should be understood as a physical, biological, and technical unit of a systemic nature, on which the human being is a part—both as an individual and as a participant in social and productive organizations—with the capacity to transform it. Any action taken on one of its parts or elements produces a change in the entire system, resulting in a new situation—a new balance or a new imbalance—with consequences that may be considered positive and desirable or, on the contrary, negative and avoidable.
Within this framework, the MASTER’S PROGRAM IN ENVIRONMENTAL INTERVENTION AND MANAGEMENT: Person and Society offers training based on Environmental Psychology, with an interdisciplinary and systemic approach. It is designed to train professionals capable of integrating, alongside a technical perspective, a strong psychosocial foundation in order to manage the human aspects that are intrinsically linked to environmental issues at all scales—from urban spaces to climate change awareness.
Our master’s program has over 30 years of experience and is a member of the UNESCO Chair in Humanities, Sustainable Development and Culture of Peace, approved by UNESCO on February 20, 2020.

Since its establishment in 1988, the Master’s Program in Environmental Intervention: Psychological, Social, and Management Contexts—originally offered as a postgraduate program—has been a pioneering initiative in addressing environmental challenges from a human and social perspective. At a time when environmental concerns had yet to gain widespread societal recognition, the program positioned itself at the forefront of a comprehensive and integrative approach. To this day, despite the emergence of similar initiatives, it remains the only benchmark program in Spain specifically dedicated to this interdisciplinary focus.
Our graduates have not only successfully entered the professional field but, more significantly, have contributed to the creation of new roles and areas of intervention. Their professional integration spans academic institutions, environmental consultancy firms, the private sector, and public administration at the local, provincial, and regional levels in Catalonia, as well as in comparable contexts across Latin America.
This applies to both small- and large-scale projects in which individuals trained through our program have been invited to participate. These projects encompass areas such as municipal and community development, road planning and management, diagnosis and evaluation of public spaces, engagement in urban design processes, analysis and mitigation of urban noise levels, corporate and municipal environmental audits and pre-audits, environmental impact assessments of major infrastructure projects, wind farms, or industrial facilities, as well as environmental education programs and campaigns, waste management, and other relevant matters—always ensuring that the content remains current and up to date.
