The purpose of this paper is to study the communicational strategy used by Ramon Llull in a set of three closely related works: the Dictat de Ramon(1299), the Coment del Dictat (1299) and the Tractatus compendiosus de articulis fidei catholicae (1300). The first one contains a series of propositions condensed in rhymed couplets that provide "necessary arguments" proving the most important articles of Christian faith. The book concludes with a petition addressed to King Jaume II, requesting permission to preach to the infidels of the Kingdom of Aragon. Later, Llull wrote the Coment del Dictat, an analytic commentary of every maxim of the Dictat. Finally, he prepared a version of the Coment in Latin, the Tractatus. The analysis of paratextual information (prologues, colophons) and formal features of these texts helps us to understand Llull's purposes and the way these works are linked to different communicational contexts.
