The main research results concerning the pseudo-Lullian alchemical corpus are synthetically exposed. Ivo Salzinger, firm believer in the authenticity of the alchemical writings of the great Catalan, is taken as a starting point, and the main stages of the pseudoepigraphical attribution, as well as the origin of the legend about Llull alchemist, are outlined. The basic idea is that, due to the great theoretical and practical significance of the elixir alchemy developed in the earliest alchemical texts attributed to him, pseudo-Lullian alchemy contributed to enhance Llull's fame throughout Europe from the late Middle Ages to the 18th century, parallel to the development of Lullism based on Llull's authentic works and focused on his ars combinatoria.
