The relationship of Llull and his work with the kings of Majorca is a matter that, until now, has been treated only superficially. We already know about the link which Llull maintained with the court of Jaume II, and about the Majorcan king's help in the founding of the college of Miramar. By extension it was traditionally assumed that the two of them maintained a good relationship, even though this fact is not so clear for the second part of Jaume II's reign. In fact, in that stage the one who really supported Llull was Jaume II of Aragon, who helped by conceding him permissions, donations and aid in his endeavors, and to whom Llull dedicated some of his works. This fact probably marred the relationship with the Majorcan monarch. We have little information about Llull during the reigns of Sanxo I and Jaume III, although during the latter, some indications lead us to think that the king showed a mixture of indifference and hostility to Llull's legacy. This fact contrasts with the well-known support that Pere el Cerimoniós gave to the figure of Ramon Llull and to his work.
