In parallel with the literature on the refutation of Judaism and Islam, Ramon Llull is one of the initiators of a tradition which we could call universalist and which has been carried on to the present day. The force of this tradition in the humanistic period stemmed from a previous current which cannot be explained without referring to Ramon Llull. Although his principles situated Christianity as the maximum ideal, Ramon Llull did not stop creating and applying formulas for limiting the differences between religions. As a result, his discourse took on certain outside affirmations as coherent with Christian doctrine. His effort to understand made him study and allow himself to be influenced by extra-Christian models. Finally, to make possible the human goal of knowing and loving God, Ramon Llull pre-established the condition necessary for social peace, and idea graphically materialized in the notion of the city of the world - a condition also compatible with laicism. If the present day requires international politics to find a discourse for the integration of immigrants and refugees into Europe, Ramon Llull shows us that this discourse should simply be recovered and updated, and not invented ab ovo. Our claim is that Ramon Llull should be made an ideological referent in the search for a solution to the grave problems of integration suffered in our day by the international community.
