Increase or decrease schooling?
The debate about increasing schooling has been present in the educational field for years. Lengthening the stay of children in school can bring different benefits such as, for example, the increase of the cultural level of the country or equity. Even so, the costs should also be taken into account: increased spending on education, the risk of a high number of school dropouts, the need to train and expand the teaching staff, centers not adapted for this initiative…
Professors Imbernon and Prats, holders of the Faculty of Education, reflecting on this topic, offer us an international comparative perspective that allows the reader to observe our educational model with perspective and compare it with other countries. Despite the two years since the authors wrote their ideas in this journal, we observe how their validity remains intact.
