The European platform EU-Citizen.Science has been launched for the exchange of knowledge, tools, training and resources on citizen’s science. This is a project financed by the Horizon 2020 programme and is driven by a consortium of institutions from 14 European states. On the Spanish side, the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN), the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) and the Ibercivis Foundation have participated.
The objectives of the platform are to transform the way in which citizen science projects are conceived and developed; to promote citizen science in the European sphere; and to become a reference point for the community that is linked to it. In this last sense, a meeting point has been created for all the agents linked to citizen science: participants, professionals, researchers, political leaders and society in general.
In addition to a blog and a calendar of events, the EU-Citizen.Science platform allows to search for citizen science projects; consult useful resources for all stages of planning and execution; and have a personal area with resources of interest, information on projects, networking and collaborations, etc. The platform is currently under development and will be extended with a training section and discussion forums.
In relation to the current situation of the COVID-19 disease, the platform has selected some citizen science projects to stay home, as well as online resources. A list of resources related to COVID-19 and two citizen science projects has also been published to help researchers studying its spread.
