Improving lithium-ion battery performance through patterned growth of carbon nanotubes over vertically aligned silicon nanowires

Categorías: IN2UB

This study, led by the  ENPHOCAMAT Group,  presents a novel method to fabricate CNT@SiNW hybrid structures, combining carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with vertically aligned silicon nanowires (SiNWs) to enhance lithium-ion battery anode performance. The hybrid structure exhibits a BET surface area of 150 m²/g and a pore size of 2.34 nm, both larger than CNTs on Si wafers. Electrochemical tests demonstrate superior lithium storage performance, attributed to the increased surface area and synergistic effects between CNTs and SiNWs, highlighting its potential as a high-performance anode material for energy storage devices.
