Efficient electrocatalysts are essential for sustainable hydrogen production. This work, done at the ENPHOCAMAT Group, presents a rapid method for producing laser-induced vertical graphene nanosheets (LIVGNs) on graphite foil, achieving a 2.2-fold increase in capacitance. LIVGNs show enhanced electrocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution, reducing the overpotential from −555 mV to −348 mV. The improvement is attributed to active sites on sharp edges and increased hydrophilicity. The LIVGN electrode demonstrates long-term stability, offering a promising approach for applications in electrocatalysis and energy storage.
