Children's participation platforms, a key opportunity

Ana Maria Novella Cámara – Universidad de Barcelona

Children's participation platforms are forms of citizen association that enable children to become actively and autonomously involved in issues and topics of their interest and concern, leading their participation and being drivers of change and transformation.

The distinctive features of these platforms lie in being spaces for free interaction, where participation is voluntary and motivated by common interests. These platforms are shaped and defined by the group of children who establish methodologies, structures, timelines... and decide how they engage and connect. In this way, the platforms serve as meeting points, places for attention, information, and assistance among children while also promoting dialogue and collaboration with local authorities to address matters of their interest. These child participation platforms act as connecting instances and support points with the municipal children's council, facilitating collaborative relationships and the exercise of influence in public policies at the local, regional, national, and European levels.

The purpose of the project is to inspire more children, as well as IMCITIZEN volunteers, to join the excitement and challenge of creating new platforms for their citizen participation. The goal is to enhance children's capacity for impact, advocacy, and influence in decision-making spaces, creating a multiplier effect that goes beyond numbers and results in a significant change in their lives and society.
Las plataformas, abren un nuevo escenario para la participación ciudadana de la infancia y la adolescencia a nivel local, nacional y europeo. ¿Qué te sugiere esta nueva oportunidad?
