The Roca Umbert-VU PHOTO Creation Grant is a project undertaken with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull in which artists from Catalonia establish photographic correspondence with artists from Quebec. An exchange between the two locations is established by this initiative allowing each artist to also develop an individual project during their stay, under the tutelage of Audrey Lahaie and Joan Fontcuberta.

In this context, the VU PHOTO Center has been the scenario for the creation of “Le Ciel” (The Sky), a project that focuses on, and in which the sky has been photographed from the front gate of a prison in Barcelona as well as from a penitentiary centre. Works from this co-creation will be exhibited in January 2023.

During the stay, the coordination made a presentation of the areas in the Méduse building and the scholarship-winning artists were invited to the WENDAKE event, which featured a series of performances that rounded off the collaboration project between the Wendat Gropu and VU, with the artistic committee formed by Annie Baillargeon, Jacynthe Carrier, France Gros-Louis Morin, Véronique Isabelle, Anne-Marie Proulx, Teharihulen Michel Savard and Manon Sioui, with the Wendat artists: Aïcha Bastien N’Diaye, Alexis Gros Louis Morin, Andrée Levesque Sioui, Teharihulen Michel Savard and the artists from Québec: Annie Baillargeon, Anne-Marie Bouchard, Dgino Cantin, Phillip Després, Erika Hagen-Veilleux, Jeffrey Poirier and Alain-Martin Richard.
