My scientific interests are in the fields of plant ecology and biogeography in alpine and subarctic regions. The aim of my PhD is to find out the effect of shrub communities on the spatio-temporal dynamics of the timberline, and also to evaluate the effects of environmental changes (simulated experimentally) in the forest-alpine grasslands ecotone. This study is carried out in the Pyrenees and in Lapland (Abisko). Moreover, I also do research on plant species richness patterns along altitudinal gradients.
