Within its strategy of digitization of collections, the British Library has recently announced that it will scan and publish on the Internet the Atlas Klencke.
The Atlas Klencke is considered one of the world’s largest, measuring 176 x 231 cm open and consists of about 40 wall maps of the golden age of Dutch cartography in the early seventeenth century.
Takes its name from Joannes Klencke, who, on behalf of a group of Dutch merchants, introduced him to Charles II on his restoration to the throne in 1660.
