The ICA Commission on the History of Cartography and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) – Department Istanbul are preparing the 8th International Symposium on the History of Cartography that will take place in April, between 21st and 23rd of 2020 in Estambul.
This edition has called Mapping the Ottoman Realm: travelers, cartographers and archaeologists and it is opened to everyone that would have interest in cartography of ancient Ottoman countries between 16th and 20th centuries, although other periods are accepted. The simposium will focus on two main themes:
- Cartography of Otoman countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
- Cartography of archeological sites, environments or excavations of Ottoman Empire during 19th and 20th centuries.
The deadline is November, 1st of 2019 and the acceptation will be notified on November, 30th. The formulary is required and it can be found here. Works will be published in History of Cartography series of Springer.
