StoryMap of a visit to portuguese border

Story Maps are a new web resource that combines maps with different information, allowing compound a classic narration, chronologically ordered, with cartographic suppor.

In this case, we have used it for a narrative genre with a high level of geographic content: diaries, books or travel chronicle.

Two members of the GEHC, Luis Urteaga and Joan Capdevila, with the expert guide of João Garcia, have travelled the Portuguese border with Spain in the part of Galicia, showing interest for the militar part, border fortress; as well as civil part, the border outline. You can see the StoryMap in this link.

As you can observe in the last picture, ancient cartography has been also easily used.

StoryMap and Instamaps apps have been used, developed by the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya. Cartographic data is from   OpenStreetMap. All resources are free. Todos estos recursos son gratuitos y de libre acceso.
