Persuasive cartography

The maps are, among other things, a way of expression that overcomes everything following the communication of geographic information. It has been used as way of propaganda, critic, sarcastic goals or even for describing non geographic concepts as love. In the imagen appears simbolically, as a stronghold, the resistance to a lovely party (link toMatthaeus Seutter map, 1730 inside the  Persuasive Maps collection).

A wonderful source of this kind of cartography is the collection of the American lawyer PJ Mode, that contains 800 maps called Persuasive cartography, but also it could be calificaste as Retoric cartography, suggestive cartography, etc..The collection is conserved at  Cornell University and it is available on Internet (link).
