The David Rumsey Map Collection has just published the new version of the new version of the only software Georeferencer, an application developed by Klokan Technologies that allows to assign geographical positions to any image.

This version allows to overlap old maps on modern cartography or on other old maps. You can georeference different maps simultaneously, display them in different modes (Overlay, Grid, Swipe y Spy glass). It also allows viewing 3D maps, selecting place names and transcribing them (Transcribe) as another way of linking them to geographic positions and comparing them with the the view Georeferencer Compare view.
