At the site of Molí of Salt, in the municipality of Vimbodí i Poblet, it has found a plate of schist with engravings that have been interpreted by archaeologists Marcos García-Díez (University of the Basque Country) and Manuel Vaquero (University Rovira i Virgili ) as a schematic representation of a Paleolithic settlement of hunters and gatherers.
In stone, 18 cm long and 8.5 wide, there are drawn seven cabins and there seems to have been made by the hand of the same person, in a moment of Upper Palaeolithic, between 13,000 and 14,000 years ago.
According to the researchers, this piece is a singularity in the landscape of Paleolithic art, which is dominated by figures of animals and abstract signs. This would be one of the first documented examples of landscape art history.
Can we say that this is the first map?
