Montserrat Forcadell

Montserrat Forcadell holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics (Universitat Pompeu Fabra-UPF, Barcelona) and an MA in Linguistics (University of Reading, England). She also holds a BA in English and German Philology (Universitat de Barcelona-UB). She is currently a part-time lecturer at Universitat de Barcelona and associate researcher at ForensicLab (Universitat Pompeu Fabra—IULA) where she collaborates in the developing of the discourse-pragmatic module of both English and Catalan in the project Forensic Idiolectometry and Index of Idiolectal Similitude, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology.

She is (and has been) involved in a number of research projects on teaching innovation at both UPF and UB. She is currently interested on how to tackle marked structures which are contrastive in English and Catalan so that (university) students might have a better understanding and command of the strategies at play in the expression of informational issues.

Her main academic fields of interest are Pragmatics (information packaging), Prosody (intonation patterns/sentence accent), and Applied Linguistics (contrastive English/Catalan marked structures).
