The purpose of this research work is to analyze the national fact in the configuration of trade unionism in Catalonia during the transition period and that will be consolidated later in the democracy, centered on the union Comissions Obreres (1976) -2006).

The new labor movement, emerged from the struggle against Francoism, breaks the classical thinking of many sectors of the left that considered that the claim of the national fact was a question that only interested the bourgeoisie.
The concept of class and national unionism, which unites the struggle for social rights with the struggle for national rights and considers both elements to be part of the same process, is a characteristic feature of this new labor movement that is Commissions of Workers. It is the first time that in the union movement in Catalonia it is manifested, in a clear and conscious way, that the working class if it wants to play a leading role in the process of national construction must assume the national fact as its own.
Since the creation of the National Workers' Commission of Catalonia, the national trait has been a constant of the union, to the point of achieving that the model of class and national unionism that it advocates, be the hegemonic trade union model in Catalonia.

It is in this aspect, trade unionism and Catalanism, in which the proposed study focuses. In it we will analyze different aspects through which we can see how the definition of class and national union that works by the Commissions of Workers is supported.

The sources consulted for this research study have been only union documents of the Workers' Commissions. All of them are part of the funds of the Fundación Cipriano García-Historic Archive of the CONC.
In the research study we have been able to see how the union has dedicated extensive documentation written about the national event. Through the analysis of the cleared documentation we can situate the fundamental characteristics in which the condition of class union and national of Working Commissions is sustained. As we have seen, these are documents of a very diverse nature and, in order to give more clarity to the ideas contained in the documents, the criterion of grouping according to the central axis that treated the documents has been followed.

In the research carried out, a total of 30 documents have been worked on. All of them have as a central axis the national fact treated from different perspectives. They are documents drawn up from the constitution of the Comissions Obreres de Catalunya as a union, in 1976, and for thirty years, until 2006.
