The Tibet and Central Asia Observatory of the University of Barcelona (OTAC) has as its main objective the study of the peoples and cultures of Central Asia, understanding this geographical area as that formed by the territories of Tibet, Mongolia and Turkestan. , as well as the areas included in the Himalayan, Karakoram, Hindu Kush, and Pamir mountain ranges.
OTAC was born in 2001 with the intention of devoting much of its efforts to the study of different areas of Tibetan civilization and its regions.
Within this framework of action, three main lines of work are currently being developed: research, teaching and cooperation.
