OBJECT OF STUDY

At the beginning of this work, the object of study was the civil war in Pallars, that is, the work started with a broader approach. Initially, the subject focused on the aspect of desertion during the civil war, since we thought that a local study on the conflict in the Pallars area had already been carried out. However, as the research progressed, the study object was expanding as we saw that not only desertion was an unpublished topic in the study of civil war but that the impact of the conflict in Pallars It was also an unprecedented and interesting study to do.

Finally, the object of study of this work has been the period of civil war in the counties of Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà, and in the Civil War work has focused on the years 1936-1938 during which both regions suffered the rearguard situation.
Therefore, chronologically the object of study includes the period between 1936 - beginning of the civil war - and 1938 - occupation of the Pallars on the part of the nationals -. And geographically, the object of study focuses on two Northwestern regions of Catalonia, such as Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà.

The study of this period has shown that, contrary to what one could think of and what has been written in other studies, Pallars was affected since July 1936 by the warlike situation, although not With the front or the trenches, yes with the rear condition.
The aspects in which this study is set are mainly politicians and the social ones, that is, how local power is organized according to the civil war and how the people of Pallars lived this new backward situation. We can say, therefore, that this study recovers the political organization that was given in the so-called "revolutionary period" and brings to light unpublished topics on the behavior of the Pallarsian society in the face of the civil war. On these behaviors there is an unpublished aspect that I have gathered in this work; the option to flee facilitated by the proximity of the border that both counties present; I have tried the type of people that flees (right, clerks and deserters), the routes they used (towards Andorra and / or France), the figure of the guides (people passers), and the consequences that could have this option .
Keywords: Pallars, civil war, rearward, local power, flight, desertion, repression.
