The period of the dictatorship of General Miguel Primo de Rivera has not yet been sufficiently studied. Other topics in our contemporary history have brought more attention to specialists. Only in recent years has a greater interest to analyze more thoroughly its nature and characteristics. It is because, in the present work, we try to move forward a bit in the knowledge of some years that, in the opinion of some historians, are becoming increasingly important. In this intense period and as a result of the crisis of the Restoration, now led by the monarchy of Alfonso XIII, a military regime appears on the scene, which, after being established temporarily, gradually takes on aspects of continuity at while at the same time generating a major political project, although in clear contradiction with the initial spirit. After a few years of military Directory and with the prestige achieved with the victory of Morocco, the moment of withdrawal was ideal, but perhaps by the real or imagined successes of these years, the regime will be transformed by means of a Civil Directory, in an eagerness to transform a system that in the eyes of Cosí de Rivera can no longer survive as until then.

For this purpose, a new Constitution, a new political party, new faces in the ministries, however, will be attempted, due to lack of experience and support (as the supports that the regime had, they will lose them over the months , until losing the last ones: the one of the army and the one of the same King) will not arrive at good port. Finally, General Cosí de Rivera will be aware of this and will decide to request the resignation. In addition, the international context of the time is of enormous density: reconstruction of the countries that participated in World War I, a new European map with the purpose of the old Empires and the novelty of Soviet Russia with the fears and the hopes that arise, the development of the various democracies and the gradual rise of totalitarianisms, the League of Nations, the happy twenties with all their prosperity and their anxiety of fun in which they mix an overwhelming optimism with a frenzied flight of the reality. This will bring together a crisis and an uncertainty in the consciences, philosophical systems and aesthetic values. Finally, the economic and also ideological hecatombe of 1929 takes place, advancing the hard years of our universal history.

Located already at the precise moment of the study, it is time to present a tool in the hands of the historian who, over the years, can increase its value insofar as it contributes to a greater knowledge of historical events . We’re talking about cinema. In the twenties of the last century it already had some of existence. We should go back to the 19th century to find its origins. After a pioneering stage, well into the twentieth century it will be at the time that it occupies a first great moment of splendor, which will come under the powerful American industry of Hollywood and the wealth of different cinematic avant-gardes that They will have taken place in Europe in those days: German Expressionism, Swedish and Danish Nordic film schools, French Impressionism or the Soviet school.
