The Work History Research Group (TIG) is a Research Group attached to the Department of Contemporary History of the University of Barcelona that began its activities in 1990. It is made up of its members as well as professors. , researchers and predoctoral fellows from other Catalan universities. They collaborate with the projects of the group of professors from other Spanish and European universities. Its objectives are to promote research and teaching in the field of Work History from a Gender perspective. He is a member and collaborates with various associations, including the following: Association of Social History, Association of Economic History, Association of Historical Demography, Association of Science and Technology of Catalonia, Spanish Association of Research de Historia de las Mujeres, Asociación de Mujeres Investigadoras y Tecnólogas, Associació d’Història del Treball. He also collaborates in advising and directing the projects of numerous Archives, Centers, Groups and Foundations of Research and Study of Catalonia.
The research focuses on the analysis of the organization, systems, and cultures of work (productive and reproductive), as well as on the working and living conditions and strategies of workers in Catalonia from a gender perspective. Historical dynamics in these areas are the result of complex relationships between various “institutions”, such as the family, the market, business organizations, employers’ associations, professionals, workers, and the state. Hence, they are the preferred target of research. The group also carries out important teaching work and the dissemination of its research, both within the academic curriculum and through the organization of courses and seminars.
