Jordi González Vidal raises in this investigation an analysis of the first Francoism in Menorca centered mainly on the role of the Falange in this island during the first years of the postwar period. In fact, the role of the One Party was very important both from the point of view of repression and ideological indoctrination.

My research work has focused on making an introduction and a first sketch about the political situation in Menorca after the war (the most forgotten period by the whole Menorcan historiography), highlighting the role played by the Falange in training and consolidation of the Franco regime on the island between 1939 and 1943.

The working hypothesis of the investigation is based on the fact that the Partido Único was one of the indispensable mechanisms used by the New Francoist State to establish itself in Menorca, as well as to achieve the subsequent consolidation of the regime on the island, by intervening in collaborate and participate directly (together with other political forces) both in the rebellion of the military rebels, as well as in the war, as well as in a more intense way once it was finished, focusing mainly on repressive tasks and with the participation of Phalanx in what has been known as the process of political socialization and ideological indoctrination of the population, in this case, Menorcan.
To develop this hypothesis I analyzed on the one hand the formation process of Falange in Menorca during the republican period and the role that this party played (in hiding) during the years of civil war on the island (which remained in the hands of the Front Popular) and on the other the functions it developed once Menorca surrendered and Franco’s troops occupied the island (in February 1939), organizing the party and participating directly in government tasks to the various Menorcan administrations and collaborating in the repression and control of the population as well as the full participation of the Falange (not exclusively, obviously) in the process of political socialization and ideological indoctrination.
