This study tries to explain the changes that have benefited the city of Barcelona since the beginning of democracy. Therefore, despite beginning explaining the methodology used and the importance of news programs in general for historical study, in this paper I try to explain how the Noticiaris de Barcelona showed the needs of the city and proposed different alternatives, many of which of which they have been producing over the years.

We have seen how the society we want to analyze is deeply linked to the audiovisual reality, within this set the cinema has become not only a show of wide geographical and social diffusion, but also a showcase in which many of the peculiarities of our world. This testimonial character is what leads us to advocate the needs of the cinema used as one of the most ideal elements to know and interpret the keys of contemporary society. The cinema should be considered as one of the depositaries of the thought of this century since it broadly reflects the mentality of the men and women who make the films and, if we consider that every document that bears the mark of human thought constitutes a historical source because , the cinema is clearly a worthy source of all historical analysis.

Barcelona is a city that has gone from being chaotic and quite gray to being one of the reference cities of southern Europe and that, in my opinion, is due to two factors: firstly, the fact of having a city council very interested in the projection of the city as a tourist destination; and, secondly, the existence of many citizen associations that have fought hard to ensure that we can all enjoy the greatest possible services. The city of Barcelona has undergone a series of very important changes in the last thirty years. These changes could already be intuited in the Noticiaris de Barcelona so that these are no more than a reflection of what was happening in the city, they showed which were the needs of the inhabitants and their concerns.

With this I want to refer to that this study tries to show that any type of cinema, non-fiction in this case, reflects the society in which it has been created, but very especially do these newscasts, since they deal with very local issues and are made by a very large group of professionals, and this increases the prospects. They are purely politicized and vindicating audiovisuals, they do not hide it at any time, nor in clear topics such as elections or the statute nor in more trivial matters such as the situation of monuments in the city; any aspect may be subject to criticism. What I have tried to do, with more or less success, is to show the need of the Noticiaris de Barcelona, which, due to its content and to give voice to the associations that have been struggling all these years to get Barcelona a city tailored to the citizens, they were a means of public expression that today is not and that is much needed.
