The Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media at the University of Barcelona and the research group DHIGECS-COM, together with the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the National University of Singapore, are organizing the II International Conference on Media, Gender, and Sexualities: Representations, Literacy, and Audiences, which will take place at the Centro de Ciencias de Benasque Pedro Pascual (CCBPP) from June 8 to 12, 2025.
The success of the first edition, held in June 2023, was evident in the enthusiasm of its contributors, the quality of its discussions, and the prolific scientific output, collaborations, and ideas it inspired. This confirms the potential of this conference to become a leading international platform for discussions on media, gender, and sexualities—topics that are increasingly relevant and essential in public discourse. The warm and collaborative environment of the inaugural edition motivates us to further strengthen the connections established, while continuing to foster opportunities for dialogue and innovation.
While the final program is still being developed, we are thrilled to announce the participation of two distinguished international scholars: Dr. Paul Julian Smith (Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center, USA) and Dr. Susan Stryker (Professor at Stanford University, USA).
We would be honored to have you join the program as well. In line with the collaborative spirit of the conference, we are now accepting submissions in two categories:
1. Scientific presentations, to be shared in dynamic discussion sessions.
2. Workshops or creative activities, focused on practical applications or challenging established knowledge.
The submission deadline is January 31, 2025.
You will find all the detailed information about this edition on the conference website, as well as links to submit your abstract, at: https://www.benasque.org/2025media/index_es.html .
