Registrations are now open for the XXXIV Josep Fontana Seminar!
The aim of this seminar, organized annually by the Jaume Vicens i Vives Institute of History (IUHJVV) and the Research Group on the Didactics of History, Geography, and Other Social Sciences – Communication (DHIGECS-COM) at the University of Barcelona, is to provide a rigorous and updated perspective on historical topics and current global issues, along with their didactics.
The sessions, led by renowned specialists in each field, consist of a theoretical part followed by a discussion.
The planned program for the 2024-2025 academic year is as follows:

- November 16, 2024. “The Bloody Art: Looted and Looters during the Third Reich” by Imma Socias and Joan Santacana, University of Barcelona.
- December 14, 2024. “Where Are the Women? Mapping Gender and Patriarchy in Catalonia (1924-2024)” by Rosa Cerarols, Pompeu Fabra University.
- January 18, 2025. “Education in Catalonia: Evidence and Perplexities” by Gregorio Luri, University of Barcelona.
- February 15, 2025. “Tourism and Gentrification Processes” by Lola Sánchez Aguilera, University of Barcelona.
- March 15, 2025. “The Israel-Palestine Conflict” by Albert García Balanyà, Pompeu Fabra University.
- April 26, 2025. “Francoism: A New Perspective” by Nicolás Sesma, Université Grenoble-Alpes.
- May 17, 2025. Guided visit to Montjuïc Cemetery.
