Douglas Cordeiro (University of Goiás, Brazil), has given the workshop open to the public «Introduction to application development #Python for the collection and analysis of web data» at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisuals of the University of Barcelona (FIMA). Dr. Cordeiro, a specialist in applied artificial intelligence, is a visiting postdoctoral researcher at FIMA and collaborates on the CUVICOM project.
The session has been organized by the project. CUVICOM and the Center for Research in Information, Communication and Culture (CRICC) of the Faculty of Information and Audiovisuals of the University of Barcelona (FIMA).
The objective of the session was to learn about the potential use of the Python programming language applied to web data analysis problems. To do this, the bases of the Python programming language and the Google Colab platform have been explained. In addition, participants have put into practice what they have learned through data scraping, cleaning and preparation and some practical examples of generating analytical indicators using Python libraries.
