Creatio hosts high school students (Basic Research)
CREATIO HOSTS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO ASSIST THEM WITH THEIR RESEARCH PROJECTS FOR BACCALAUREATE
This summer, two high school students, Víctor Pérez from Sant Nicolau School (Sabadell) and Hanaa Gharib from Alexandre de Riquer Institute (Calaf) contacted Creatio, Production and Validation of Advanced Therapies Center at the University of Barcelona, to learn first-hand about the research carried out at the center. The main topic of the research projects for Baccalaureate of both students was “stem cells research and their use in regenerative medicine and neurodegenerative diseases”. In order to introduce them to this topic and be able to complement their science studies, Dr. Alice Louail, postdoctoral researcher involved in the European 4DBR project, gave them a guided tour of the facilities.
During this visit, the students had the opportunity to interview Dr. Louail and ask questions related to stem cell differentiation and its application in neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, they learned about the 4-DBR project, which they found very interesting and innovative. They did not expect that such innovative and pioneering research could be carried out in laboratories so close. Dr. Louail is committed to outreach activities and values these types of initiatives very positively. She is convinced about the importance of devoting time to students, since the students of today will be the researchers of the future. These collaborations are essential to make visible the day-to-day life of researchers and research centers, with the aim of promoting scientific vocations. At Creatio we are very committed to the promotion of scientific vocations, and we find essential to provide these training opportunities to students.
