Conference: Dr. Jordi Abante (Basic Research)
DR. JORDI ABANTE LLENAS, POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY (UNITED STATES), WILL GIVE A CONFERENCE ON SEPTEMBER 23rd AT 3:00 P.M. IN THE SALA DOLORS ALEU I RIERA (ROOM 14) OF THE CAMPUS CLINIC (UNIVERSITY OF BARCELONA).
The talk is entitled “Nanopore-derived epigenetic landscapes and reference free analysis of microbial evolution” and is organized within the Continuing Cycle of Conferences of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Below you will find a brief synopsis of the topics that will be addressed by Dr. Abante during the seminar:
“The first part of the talk will consist of Jordi Abante’s PhD work on epigenetic landscape estimation from nanopore sequencing data Dr. Jordi Abante also earned a master’s degree in Statistical Learning Inference from the Applied Mathematics Statistics department at Johns Hopkins University in 2018 After defending his dissertation “Statistical Signal Processing Methods for Epigenetic Landscape Analysis” in 2021 Jordi joined Salzman lab in the Biomedical Data Science Department at Stanford University He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the Stanford University Center for Computational, Evolutionary, and Human Genomics During his tenure at Stanford, Dr. Abante has been working on reference free methods to study microbial evolution and horizontal gene transfer In the second part of his talk, Jordi will introduce a novel reference free statistical method for diversity generating and mobile element discovery”
