Jokin Azpiazu Carballo

Jokin Azpiazu Carballo is a sociologist and professor at the University of the Basque Country. Since the elaboration of his master’s thesis, he has developed a line of research on masculinities and the implications of men in feminism, resulting in the publication of both academic and dissemination articles, talks, debates, trainings and workshops, as well as the book “Masculinities and feminism” published by Virus publishing house in 2017. In parallel, she has worked on issues related to gender-based violence and, specifically, sexual violence occurring in the adult educational environment, participating in two EU-funded projects: GAP Work Project (JUST/2012/ DAP/AG/3176) and USVreact (JUST/2014/RDAP/AG/VICT/7401). These projects have given her the opportunity to collaborate with academics and researchers from universities in London, Brighton, Turin, Latvia or Athens, among other places. Both projects have combined educational intervention with evaluative research and have resulted in numerous conferences, publications and dissemination actions. Since 2015 she has been working on research related to LGTB* subjectivities, resulting in a doctoral thesis and academic and dissemination publications. The thesis has paid special attention to methodological processes, adapting the proposed method of analysis of Situational Analysis by Adele E. Clarke, resulting in one of the first approaches to this method outside the Anglo-Saxon environment and the field of sociology of health. Precisely in the field of research methodologies with a feminist perspective, she collaborates since 2011 with SIMReF (Seminario Inter-Disciplinar de Metodología de Investigación Feminista), a group recognized by the Universitat Rovira i Virgili since 2016, in the framework of which she has collaborated in the development of publications, face-to-face, semi-face and online courses, as well as in the organization of conferences and seminars for debate and dissemination.
