This year’s edition of Time Use Week will be held from October 21-25 in Barcelona and throughout Catalonia, under the title “Advancing the right to time for everyone”. Time Use Week 2024 is co-organized by the Government of Catalonia, Barcelona City Council, Barcelona Metropolitan Area, Barcelona Provincial Council and the Time Use Initiative.
Time Use Initiative (TUI) is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes the right to time worldwide. Its main objective is to encourage public debate on how we collectively organize our time, in order to improve the well-being of citizens through innovative time policies.
Time Use Week, Time and Time Week, is the international event for the promotion of knowledge and inspirational cases on time policies. Researchers, political institutions, social organizations and citizens from all over the world will participate and promote the debate, from their different fields of knowledge and experience, to achieve a better social organization of time.
Time Uso Week 2024 aims to emphasize a holistic approach to the right to time. On the one hand, for a specialized public, questioning institutions, social and productive fabric and the world of research; on the other hand, this year is committed to include activities and actions that also reach a non-specialized public throughout the Catalan territory.
The main event of this year’s edition will focus on updating the Work Plan of the Barcelona Declaration on Time Policies to offer a joint work plan to the organizations that already committed in 2021 and to those that have started working on the organization of time since then and those that have joined new ones. This work plan defines concrete commitments to be made in the 2024-2026 framework.
All those participating in the Week in face-to-face format will be able to enjoy various activities only available in person (workshops, networking opportunities…). In addition, and for the first time, this year there will be a Time Uso Week partner organization badge for those organizations that want to organize an initiative within the framework of the Week.
In addition to the institutional program, Time Uso Week 2024 will continue to be decentralized throughout Catalonia so that all territories can contribute ideas and practices to the right to time and the concept can be grounded in the most local realities.
