Care has been one of the main topics of discussion and advocacy throughout the year in the Basque Country. On November 30 last year, a feminist general strike was held for the first time in the South of the Basque Country to demand the collective right to care, but this concept has yet to be developed, implemented and conquered, according to anthropologist Mari Luz Esteban and economist Amaia Pérez Orozco. Both have come a long way within feminism, in reflections and practices of care, although from different fields and disciplines. They saw some obstacles on the road to liberation, but also raised other issues during an interview published in berria.
