Reactivation of the anti-patriarchal assembly of Palma

On January 13 of this year 2024 was held the reactivation of the antipatriarchal Assembly of Palma, after almost five years of stoppage, necessary, from their point of view, for a reflection towards feminist movements on the island of Mallorca. The celebration took place at the Ateneo Popular Sano Fonera, a self-managed space in the heart of the city of Palma. The Assembly, they affirm, is born from the urgent need to self-organize against the aggressions of a system sustained on the pillars of the patriarchy.

The anti-patriarchal Assembly of Palma has designed the cycle of feminist talks, which it calls “Llamaradas. Space of encounter and transformation”, which will take place between February and June of this year. The cycle, which, above all, is shaped as an inclusive meeting space, contemplates, transversally, issues related to antifascism and feminisms. The program of the “Llamaradas” cycle, for the moment, deals with antifeminism in educational centers; feminism as a tool to build everyday antifascism; grassofobia; antifeminism and fascism in the digital environment; and sexual violence.

Despite being more focused on these issues in this year 2024, the anti-patriarchal Assembly (both in Palma and Manacor, another Mallorcan municipality) does not forget the dimension of the priests, and one of its pillars has been to make visible the importance of the tasks of priests and gender inequality in social responsibility towards them. They have pointed out the double working day and the gap that exists in work conciliation.

After March 8, perhaps it is worth remembering that if women stop, the world stops.
