Art and reflection on care at IVAM

On April 19 ended the film series Household workers to the screen. This is an activity organized by the IVAM and the Valencian Film Archive in the framework of the exhibition In a House. Genealogy of housework and the cures of the illustrator Ana Penyas and the social researcher Alba Herrero. From the viewing of films such as Si tú vas à Paris (2013, Jacquie Chavance and Guillaume Mazeline) or A Second Mother (2015, Anna Muylaert) it was possible to delve into the different dimensions of the cure and domestic work from a gender perspective. This expanded the analysis that Penyas and Herrero have made to their exhibition in which, through illustration and ethnographic research, visitors can learn about the social implications that domestic work has on the lives of the women who dedicate themselves to it. The visit to this exhibition was part of the first Workshop of the project Rescupan: The social reorganization of the cure in pandemic: welfare, community and gender. Experiences and debates from the Valencian Country, held last January at the University of Valencia.
