“CURING IS CURING. Caring for and healing, among other things”. Round talk.
On Wednesday, November 18, at 6 pm, there will be a talk in the round “CURE IS RUN. Caring for and healing among other jobs ”to reflect on the work that women do, paid and unpaid, giving centrality to care work. The activity, which will take place without an audience and with all the security measures in the Auditorium, can be followed live on YouTube at the Palau Robert.
On this occasion, two members of Copolis will take part. Professor Elisabet Almeda Samaranch as speaker and Professor Núria Vergés Bosch as organizer of the event.
COVID-19 has highlighted the need for care work and the extent to which they are essential for the sustainability of our lives and societies. At the same time, we have seen that caring, as healing, is something highly feminized, precarious, and largely unpaid within our homes. What jobs do women do? Under what conditions? Who is (co) responsible for the care work? Is it possible to reconcile and enrich the various vital spheres? And does telecommuting always help?
For this occasion we will have the experiences and knowledge of:
Lourdes Benería i Farré, Professor Emeritus at Cornell University and a reference in Feminist Economics
Lissette Fernandez, member of the Sindillar Home Workers and Caregivers Union
Dolors Rodriguez Martin, professor of the Department of Fundamental Nursing and Medical Surgery at the UB
Sandra Ezquerra Samper, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Women, Development and Cultures at UVic
Macarena Trujillo Cristoffanini, professor at the University of Playa Ancha (Chile) and postdoctoral researcher at the URV
Montserrat Puig Llobet, Director of the Department of Public Health Nursing, Mental Health and Maternal and Child Health at the UB
Júlia Serrasolsas, children’s educator and singer of the groups Ginestà and Akelarre
Sara Moreno Colom, Associate Professor of Sociology at the UAB
Silvia Carrillo, winner with Mireia Duran of the Nativity Yarza 2020 award for researching telework and gender
Clara Romero Bateman, co-founder of the sorority organization Mujeres Palante
Elisabet Almeda Samaranch, Professor of Sociology of the Family and Gender at the UB.
What they share will be recorded live by the artist Tina Fina (Núria Inés) and the music of the event will be provided by DJ Bzzzbip (Antònia Folguera)
This is the fourth activity of the cycle organized by the Palau Robert, coordinated by professor Núria Vergés i Bosch and the poet Mireia Calafell Obiol (La Sullivan), coinciding with the exhibition “Feminist you had to be”, which claims feminism to transform the society and which can be visited until 8 December.
