First Lecture Series: Expanding the Field: Gender, Affect and Care in Contemporary (British) Theatre

The First Lecture Series “Expanding the Field” aims to broaden the theoretical scope of the research project “Gender, Affect and Care in Contemporary British Theatre” (PID2021-126448NA-I00) by reflecting on and beyond the three core concepts that articulate it. The various lectures will address the representations and staging of transness beyond testimony on British stages, the interplay between harm and repair in contemporary South African performance, and the implications of remembering through theatrical form via Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis.
The series is coordinated by the PI of the research project Dr. Clara Escoda (ADHUC – Universitat de Barcelona) and Dr. Elisabeth Massana (ADHUC – Universitat de Barcelona). Participants include Dr. Rachel Hann (Northumbria University), Professor Aylwyn Walsh (University of Leeds) and Dr. Leah Sidi (University College London).
