The UB Business School celebrates the first cohort of graduates from its newest postgraduate programme. Overall, 26 students have completed the first edition of the MSc in International Business launched just one year ago. Clearly, the students have been key in consolidating this new master’s. In less than one year, the MSc in International Business has stablished itself in a very competitive market. The number of applications for the academic year 2019/20 has increased by 130%.
For the MSc in International Business director, Dr Merce Bernardo, the graduation of its first cohort of students is “a reason to be honoured and proud of. The first because the 26 graduated have trusted on the programme without any previous reference about the master’s. It is true that the programme is taught in a renowned Faculty and University but we were new at the moment to make the decision of where to study a master’s of these characteristics. For the management team as well as for the Academic Commission of the programme, for whom I can only extend a word of thanks, it has been a challenge but also a reason to continue working and improving”.
Dr Merce Bernardo explained that “at this moment of the academic year we can only be proud of these students. They have been working very hard and have understood and adapted to all the circumstances of what a new programme involves. They have been very involved in the programme and this has been very helpful for us. We are very happy for them and we hope the best of luck with their future careers. They are without any doubt what really gives meaning to the programme.”
The MSc in International Business student representatives Loic Cartilier and Luna Pauli-Bach commented: “The master’s gave us the opportunity to experience a superb international atmosphere while enjoying Barcelona’s mythic culture and dynamism”. They added that: “The master’s management made sure the first edition was plain sailing journey. So you’ll be in good hands, guaranteed! But don’t rest on your laurels. The city has many sides that you wouldn’t dare to imagine! The master’s should allow you some spare time in between its many group works. Besides the excitement of local fauna and flora, this programme allowed us to consolidate useful knowledge in the business world. A true asset for our future!”
The first cohort of MSc in International Business graduates come from 17 different countries from around the world. The large majority of students are from Europe (65%), followed by the Americas (27%) and Asia (8%). They have an undergraduate degree in Business Management or International Business from top universities and as many as 85.5% of the class already have previous employment experience in an international business environment.
Three MSc in International Business students spent part of their degree on an Erasmus+ study period at the University of Amsterdam and the Copenhagen Business School, while four students from the University of Amsterdam, Copenhagen Business School and Goethe University Frankfurt joined their colleagues in Barcelona also as Erasmus+ exchange students.
The Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Barcelona, as well as the UB Business School, welcome the success of the first edition of this master’s degree and congratulate the first graduates. Good work!
