The UB Business School is pleased to introduce four researchers who have joined our faculty in 2023:

Jordi Campo: Jordi joined the Department of Business as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He has previously worked at the intersection of academia and industry, holding positions as a Director of Marketing in various companies. He received his PhD in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2022. His research expertise spans across the areas of General Management, Marketing, Strategy, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Marketing.

Daniel de Mattos: Daniel joined the Department of Business as a Ramón y Cajal Tenure-track lecturer. He has worked previously at the University of Derby, University of Jaén, Fluminense Federal University, and Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro since 2012. He has also worked in the industry for over eight years as an industrial engineer with Petrobras oil and gas company. He received his PhD in Sustainable Management Systems from the Fluminense Federal University and University of Jaén in 2019. His research interests include Technology and Operations Management.

Johana Sierra: Johana joined the Department of Business as a Postdoctoral Researcher. She received her PhD in Business Economics from the Universidad de León in 2023.  She has previously worked at the Faculty of Business Administration at the Universidad Regional Autónoma de los Andes (Ecuador) as a full-time lecturer. In addition, she has collaborated as a lecturer at the Faculty of the Universidad Técnica del Norte, also in Ecuador. Her research focuses on General Management, and Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

Yelena Smirnova: Yelena joined the Department of Business as an Assistant Professor. She has previously worked at the Institute of Economic, Social and Business Studies (IESBS SDU) as vice-director. She holds a PhD in Management from Suleyman Demirel University (Turkey) in 2014, and a PhD in Management from University of Barcelona in 2020. Her research interests focus on Strategy and Entrepreneurship, and Technology and Operations Management.

We extend our warmest welcome to Jordi, Daniel, Johana, and Yelena as they join UB Business School’s scholarly community. Their presence promises to enhance our academic excellence and contribute to our ongoing commitment for innovation.
